KATHMANDU: A breakthrough has been achieved in the aftermath of the Barathawa incident in Sarlahi, as both the victim’s family and the administration have reached a consensus on 11 points.
The agreement was forged during a discussion on Sunday, involving representatives from the District Security Committee, the victims, and protesting groups.
Chief District Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala announced the key points of agreement, highlighting that the Barathawa municipality has committed to providing employment to a member of the victim’s family.
Additionally, all parties involved pledged their support to the committee established by the Ministry of Home Affairs to conduct a fair investigation into the incident.
Dhamala explained that the demands put forth by the protesting parties would be promptly addressed at the local level, while those requiring central intervention would be recommended to the appropriate authorities.
The protesting party has willingly withdrawn their protest program following the consensus.
The body of Jay Shankar Sah, the local young businessman shot by the police last Friday, is now set to be recovered by law enforcement after three days.
