Meeting of ruling coalition to finalize seat allocation for NA elections underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the coalition parties to fine-tune the allocation of seats for the upcoming National Assembly elections is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, and Unified Samajwadi Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, among others, are participating in the meeting.

While the coalition meeting held until the previous night established a preliminary blueprint for seat distribution, sources indicate that ongoing dissatisfaction among the Janata Samajwadi Party and the Unified Socialist has prompted additional efforts to reach a final consensus.

Notably, smaller parties within the coalition, including the Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, and others, have been excluded from the current meeting.
