Birgunj Customs Office fails to meet target in revenue collection



BIRGUNJ: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 49.92 billion in revenue in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

The Office was given a target of Rs 70.44 billion for revenue collection during the period.

Chief Customs Administrator Dipak Lamichhane said that the Office faced difficulties to meet the target in revenue collection because of more public holidays in the month of Asoj and Kartik.

The Office said that 70 percent of the revenue in Birgunj is received from the petroleum products, industrial raw materials and vehicles.

The Office collected Rs 12.16 billion in Shrawan, Rs 13.23 billion in Bhadra, Rs 13.47 billion Asoj and Rs 11.4 billion in the month of Kartik.

The Birgunj Customs Office had collected Rs 49.18 billion in revenue in the first four months of the last fiscal year.
