Dr. Bhattarai alleges political vendetta behind Rabi’s arrest

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai met Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, who is currently in the custody of Kaski Police.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Dr. Bhattarai alleged that a political vendetta was being carried out against Rabi Lamichhane and that the issue surrounding the cooperative scandal was being diverted for political gain.

Dr. Bhattarai claimed that those responsible for embezzling funds from the cooperative were closely connected to the state government.

He described the actions as an attempt to shield the perpetrators while using Lamichhane’s case as a tool to take revenge on the opposition.

He also criticized the state for its apparent indifference to protecting the depositors’ money.

Lamichhane, who had recorded a statement in connection with the fraud case involving Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kathmandu, was transferred to Pokhara late Wednesday night.
