TikTok gets legal recognition in Nepal



KATHMANDU: TikTok has been officially listed in Nepal for the first time, gaining legal recognition as a registered social network.

According to Gajendra Kumar Thakur, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, TikTok was officially listed on Tuesday.

Thakur stated that TikTok has now received legal legitimacy after being registered by the Ministry of Communications.

He emphasized that, under current regulations, all social networks operating in Nepal must be officially registered.

“The registration process was completed on Tuesday,” Thakur told Khabarhub.

“TikTok is now registered as number 3, following Viber at number 1 and WiTalk at number 2.”
