KATHMANDU: Today, the festival of Haritalika (Teej), celebrated on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, is being observed with reverence as devotees worship Devadidev Mahadev.
Haritalika Teej, a grand festival for Nepalese Hindu women, sees an influx of worshippers at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu from the early hours of the morning.
Women participate in this festival by fasting for the health and longevity of their husbands.
According to religious belief, fasting on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya and worshiping Shiva and Parvati is said to bring family happiness, peace, and well-being.
This fast is rooted in the ancient belief that Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, earned Mahadev as her husband through penance performed at Gaurighat during Satya Yuga.
As part of the Haritalika (Teej) celebrations, temples across the country are bustling with devotees.
At Pashupatinath today, the atmosphere is vibrant with crowds of pilgrims and lively celebrations.
Devotees have been lining up since early morning to pay their respects and take part in the festivities.
