Baglung flood death toll reaches three

BAGLUNG: The body of 20-year-old Kamal Sapkota from Bandre Adhaithar, Baglung Municipality-4, has been found after he went missing in a flood at the Bandrekhola rivulet.

With this discovery, the death toll from the flood has risen to three.

Sub-Inspector Pratap Poudel of the District Police Office reported that Sapkota’s body was located 500 meters from the incident site.

The flood occurred at midnight on Thursday, sweeping away a motorcycle (Dha. 2 Pa. 8010) and a scooter (Dha. 1 Pa. 9996).

Arjun Sapkota, 23, and Avishek Regmi, 22, both from Baglung-4, were killed in the incident, while Kamal Sapkota was initially reported missing.

The scooter and motorcycle were en route to Malika from Kudule when the flood struck.

The bodies of Arjun and Avishek were recovered approximately 200 meters downstream from the river last night.

Kamal Sapkota’s body has been taken to Dhaulagiri Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
