Police Inspector deployed at Former PM Oli’s residence dies, investigation underway

KATHMANDU: An Armed Police Force (APF) inspector assigned as the security chief at the residence of CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli has passed away.

According to DSP Rajan Karki, spokesperson for the Bhaktapur District Police Office, Inspector Umesh Thapa, who was stationed at Oli’s residence in Balkot, died last night.

“We have sent the body to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for post-mortem,” DSP Karki said, adding, “The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.”

Police stated that the cause of death will be revealed following the post-mortem report.

The government typically assigns a team of security personnel, led by APF inspectors and sub-inspectors, for the protection of former prime ministers.
