Candidates commence nomination filing for Ilam-2 by-election

KATHMANDU: The process of filing nominations for the by-election scheduled for April 27 in Ilam-2 has commenced as candidates began submitting their nominations on Saturday.

The Election Commission had instructed candidates to submit their nominations at the respective election office between 10 am to 5 pm today.

As of now, four candidates have officially filed their nominations for the upcoming election.

Prem Kumar Thamsuhang (Prem Deep) from Janamat Party, Shyam Bahadur Darji of Nepal Workers Peasants Party, Dhak Prasad Gautam, an independent candidate, along with another candidate, have completed their nomination process.

Additional candidates are expected to submit their nominations shortly.

Among the prominent candidates contesting in the Ilam-2 by-election are Dambar Khadka from Nepali Congress, Suhang Nembang from CPN-UML, and Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party.

The Election Commission has also set a deadline for filing complaints against nominations from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday. Candidates willing to withdraw their candidacy can do so until April 9, with election symbols being allocated on the same day.

The by-election is scheduled to take place on April 27, with polling hours set from 7 am to 5 pm.

For the upcoming by-election in Ilam-2, there are 79 polling centers and 149 polling booths established to facilitate the voting process. Similarly, in Bhajang-1, there are 74 polling centers and 93 polling booths arranged for the electoral proceedings.
