Coalition leaders crafting ministries distribution draft

UML likely to get 8 ministries; Maoist Center 5, RSP 4 and JSP 2

KATHMANDU: The nascent four-party coalition has outlined its preliminary plan for ministry distribution, following a meeting among the alliance members.

During the meeting, a blueprint was devised, suggesting the allocation of 8 ministries, including the Deputy Prime Minister position, to the UML party.

Furthermore, insiders revealed discussions surrounding the possibility of allocating 4 ministries to the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), with one member potentially assuming the role of Deputy Prime Minister.

Additionally, talks included granting 5 ministries to the Maoist Center and two ministries to Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

However, the CPN-UML has confidently asserted the safety of its claimed 8 seats.

Currently, the only confirmed coalition in the formation of the Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government is the four-party alliance consisting of UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party.

Prachanda is slated to establish a 25-member cabinet, along with 2 state ministers.

Despite the progress, disagreements persist among the CPN-UML, Maoist Center, and RSP regarding the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Finance.

The UML has maintained a steadfast stance on the Ministry of Home, while RSP expresses its intent to secure the same.

Interestingly, Prime Minister Dahal is keen on retaining control of the Ministry of Finance.
