Several areas poised for wintry weather today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system, marking a significant shift in the weather patterns.

The Weather Forecast Division has reported predominantly clear conditions in the mountainous regions, encompassing parts of Sudurpaschim Province.

As the day progresses, it has forecasted a transition to partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Meanwhile, other provinces will maintain mostly clear conditions.

There’s a likelihood of light snowfall in select high hilly and Himalayan areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim.

Likewise, a few locations in the high hilly and Himalayan reaches of Koshi and Bagmati provinces might experience similar conditions, according to the Division.

Tonight, the hilly areas, including the Sudurpaschim Provincs, will see mostly clear skies, while other areas will witness partial cloud cover.

Gandaki, Karnali, and a couple of locations in the high hills and Himalayan regions of Sudurpaschim Province are expected to encounter light snowfall.

Considering the potential for snowfall in Gandaki, Karnali, and a few high-altitude areas in Sudurpaschim Province, the Division has urged people to take necessary precautions.

There is a possibility of a partial impact on daily life, affecting areas such as agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, road, and air transport, it said.
