Unified Socialist secretariat entrusts three leaders with selection of NA election candidates

KATHMANDU: In a significant development, CPN (Unified Socialist), a pivotal member of the Dahal-led government, convened a secretariat meeting on Saturday at the party’s central office in Aloknagar.

The outcome of the meeting reveals a strategic move as three key leaders have been entrusted with the crucial responsibility of selecting candidates from the party for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election. Jagannath Kathiwada, the chief of the party’s publicity department, confirmed this decision.

The designated leaders for this task are party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-Chairman Rajendra Pandey, and General Secretary Ghan Shyam Bhusal. The decision reflects the party’s proactive approach in preparing for the NA election scheduled for January 25, which is anticipated to be a competitive contest between the ruling alliance and the main opposition party, CPN-UML.

Simultaneously, a meeting of the ruling alliance is currently in progress at Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence in Baluwatar. The discussion centers around the critical issue of seat allocation among the coalition members, highlighting the ongoing political dynamics and negotiations within the alliance.
