Rabi produced in court for third time for custody extension

POKHARA: Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane, currently in the custody of Kaski Police in connection with the cooperative fraud case, was brought to court today for the third time seeking an extension of his detention.

Along with Lamichhane, former DIG Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, and Ram Bahadur Khanal, who were also in Kaski Police custody for their involvement in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case, were brought before the District Court Kaski for a detention extension.

The District Court Kaski had earlier extended Lamichhane’s detention by 7 days for the second time.

Lamichhane, a former Home Minister, was arrested in connection with the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud.

With the court reopening after the Tihar break, police brought Lamichhane before the court today for another extension request.

If the District Court Kaski grants the extension, Lamichhane will be transferred to Butwal for further investigation.

This includes providing statements in relation to the supplementary complaint concerning the larger cooperative fraud case in Butwal.
