KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, declared that his party will independently contest the upcoming by-elections and the 2027 elections across all levels.
During a meeting organized by the party’s district committee, he stressed that previous alliances with the Nepali Congress and UML had diluted the Maoist identity.
Dahal said that the party is now preparing for a solo campaign, starting with the local level by-elections scheduled for December 1.
He highlighted a resurgence of public interest in the Maoist party, fueled by its commitment to good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity, even amid his removal from government.
Dahal expressed confidence in the party’s ability to mobilize nationwide support, drawing on its previous successes against combined opposition forces.
Criticizing the current government’s handling of recent natural disasters, he pledged that the Maoist Center would take proactive measures to address the crisis. Dahal urged party leaders and workers to prioritize service to the people over exchanging holiday greetings.
