PADT urges people visiting Pashupatinath to avoid expensive jewelry for Haritalika Teej

KATHMANDU: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has urged pilgrims visiting Pashupatinath on Haritalika Teej to refrain from bringing expensive jewelry and small children.

The Trust has emphasized the need for caution due to the large crowds expected at the temple.

Rewati Raman Adhikari, spokesperson for the PADT, explained that past incidents of jewelry theft have prompted this precaution.

He stated, “There have been numerous complaints about stolen jewelry in previous years. To prevent such issues, we advise against wearing expensive jewelry in the crowd.”

He added, “Losing valuable items not only affects the individual but also their family. Additionally, wearing expensive sarees can pose a fire hazard while lighting lamps, so we recommend wearing simpler attire.”

The PADT confirmed that all necessary preparations for the Haritalika Teej festival have been completed.

These include managing security, volunteer mobilization, traffic control, parking, health camps, and free water distribution.

For the festival, all four temple doors will open at 3 am, one hour earlier than usual.

Traffic at the Ring Road will not be fully stopped this year.

Security arrangements will involve all four security agencies to ensure the safety of visitors in the Pashupati area, according to the Trust.
