Ashok Rai also deserts PM Dahal, three ministers submit resignations

KATHMANDU: Ashok Rai’s Janata Samajwadi Party, formed after splitting from Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal on May 3, has also withdrawn its support for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

On Friday, two ministers and one state minister from Janata Samajwadi Party, appointed on May 13, submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Dahal.

The resignations were submitted by JSP leader and Minister of Health and Population Pradeep Yadav, Minister of Forests and Environment Nawal Kishore Sah Sudi, and State Minister of Health Hasina Khatun.

With Yadav, Sudi, and Khatun’s resignations, Ashok Rai’s JSP has also withdrawn its support for the Prachanda-led coalition government.

Rai’s JSP has seven members in the Federal Parliament.

The CPN-UML withdrew its support earlier on Wednesday, leaving Prachanda in the minority.

The UML has informed the Parliamentary Secretariat that it will now sit as the opposition in Parliament.
