Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa explores Basantapur Durbar Square during Kathmandu visit (With Photos)

KATHMANDU: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa is presently on a one-day visit to Kathmandu, responding to an invitation from Nepali Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha.

Upon her arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, Minister Kamikawa was warmly greeted by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal.

During her visit, Minister Kamikawa explored the historic Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu, immersing herself in Nepali arts and architecture for approximately 30 minutes.

This visit marks Minister Kamikawa’s first trip to Nepal since assuming her role as Japan’s Foreign Minister.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Kamikawa’s itinerary includes courtesy meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today.

Additionally, she is scheduled for a bilateral formal dialogue with Foreign Minister Shrestha to comprehensively review all aspects of Nepal-Japan relations.

Discussions on cooperation at the international level are also anticipated during Minister Kamikawa’s visit, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Kamikawa’s visit marks the fourth by a Japanese Foreign Minister since the establishment of Nepal-Japan relations.
