Over 10,000 applicants for KMC’s ‘Skill Fair 2081 BS’

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s (KMC) ‘Skill Fair 2081 BS,’ launched on May 1, has garnered remarkable interest, with over 10,000 individuals applying for vocational training opportunities.

Originally aimed to train 2,081 people, the overwhelming response has prompted KMC to accommodate all applicants.

Bimala Koirala, acting head of KMC’s Social Development Department, assured that all applicants would receive training, with those applying before May 1 being eligible for immediate participation.

The training schedule is set to be distributed by Friday, May 10, for early applicants, while arrangements are underway for subsequent training sessions in collaboration with various educational institutions and community schools.

Of the total applicants, 2,081 will undergo immediate training, while others will be accommodated over the next three years based on their requirements.

The ‘Skill Fair’ initiative, part of KMC’s ‘Gaurav Yojana’ (Pride Project) aimed at enhancing employment and income opportunities, has been developed in partnership with the Nepal Training and Employment Association.

With a focus on 36 occupations across 10 sectors, KMC anticipates the fair to consolidate dispersed skill sets and facilitate employment opportunities for trained individuals.

Participants aged between 18 to 58 years are eligible for the training.

To ensure accessibility, provisions were made for both online and offline application processes, including paper forms available at ward offices.

Participants present at the opening ceremony at Tundikhel were also facilitated with on-site registration, KMC confirmed.
