SMS Friendship Cup: Nepal faces defeat to Baroda on Friday



KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team faced defeat in the final match of the SMS Friendship Cup triangular series.

In Friday’s encounter, Nepal suffered a loss against Baroda by 37 runs. Notably, in the initial match, Nepal had emerged victorious against Baroda by 27 runs.

Despite this setback, Nepal is scheduled to compete against Gujarat in the ultimate showdown on Sunday.

During today’s game, Nepal opted to rest four key players. Head coach Monty Desai decided to give captain Rohit Paudel, along with Sompal Kami, Avinash Bohora, and Ashif Sheikh, some rest.

Nepal’s batting performance saw them scoring 119 runs, losing all wickets with six balls remaining. Baroda had set a target of 157 runs.

In terms of bowling, Gulshan Jha and Karan KC both secured two wickets each for Nepal, while Lalit Rajbanshi, Pratish GC, and Akash Chand each claimed one wicket.
