PBKS stages sensational comeback to defeat GT in TATA IPL 2024 thriller



KATHMANDU: In a thrilling encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a remarkable victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Despite GT posting a challenging total of 199 runs, PBKS displayed resilience and determination, guided by the remarkable performances of Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma.

The duo’s stellar efforts led PBKS to a memorable three-wicket win that will be etched in the memories of their teammates and fans for a long time.

Winning the toss, PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan elected to bowl first. Both teams made a change each due to injury concerns, with Sikandar Raza replacing Liam Livingstone for PBKS, and Kane Williamson coming in for David Miller in the GT lineup.

GT’s innings was anchored by their captain, Shubman Gill, who showcased his batting prowess with an unbeaten 89 off 48 balls.

Supported by Kane Williamson and Sai Sudharsan, Gill propelled GT’s innings with finesse and elegance, reminiscent of his stellar performances in the previous IPL seasons.

Despite GT’s formidable total, PBKS commenced their chase aggressively, with Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran providing a solid start.

However, GT struck back with crucial breakthroughs, creating pressure on the PBKS batting lineup.

It was Shashank Singh’s aggressive innings and Ashutosh Sharma’s impactful performance that turned the tide in PBKS’s favor.

The duo’s resilient partnership, coupled with some explosive hitting, propelled PBKS towards the target.

With the match hanging in the balance, PBKS required 25 runs off the last two overs. Mohit Sharma’s penultimate over went for 18 runs, setting up a thrilling finale.

Ashutosh and Shashank remained composed under pressure, guiding PBKS to victory with a stunning display of power-hitting.

The 43-run partnership between Ashutosh and Shashank proved to be the decisive factor, securing a remarkable victory for PBKS in what was an enthralling encounter.
