China expresses “willingness” to work with Nepal’s new government

KATHMANDU: China has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the recently formed government of Nepal.

China’s statement comes a day after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda decided to break away from the alliance with Nepali Congress and form a new government with the support of CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Janata Samajwadi Party.

Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China has observed Nepal’s formation of a new ruling coalition and cabinet restructuring.

She hoped that all political parties in Nepal will unite and cooperate to facilitate the smooth establishment of a new government, ensuring political stability, economic development, and improved living standards.

Emphasizing the significance of Nepal-China relations as friendly neighbors and cooperative partners, Mao Ning conveyed China’s commitment to working with the new Nepali government.

“China aims to adhere to the five principles of peaceful coexistence, strengthen traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation, and foster strategic collaboration between Nepal and China, ultimately contributing to enduring friendship focused on development and prosperity,” she said.
