Kumal community to mark Maghe Sankranti festival in Golaghat

KATHMANDU: The Kumal community has prepared to mark the Maghe Sankranti festival with much fanfare this year.

The Kumal community observes the Maghe Sankranti as its greatest festival.

The Kumal Samaj Nepal has decided to observe this festival at Golaghat in Chitwan by gathering the members of the community from across the country.

It is said that as many as 6,000 members of this community from some 70 districts are expected to gather in the celebration.

Chairman of Samaj Tel Bahadur Kumal shared that a decision has been made to celebrate this festival at Golaghat, the meeting point of Narayani and Rapti rivers in Bharatpur.

He shared that the traditional costumes would be showcased and cultural programmes would be conducted at the festival.

Kumal said that typical Kumal house, their cultures and other heritages would be promoted and demonstrated in the festival.

The total population of Kumal community is around 130,000 in the country.
