KATHMANDU: Today marks the coldest day in Kathmandu Valley for the entire year, as per meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar.
The minimum temperature plummeted to 3.7 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am, setting a new record for the lowest temperature this winter.
“This is the coldest we’ve experienced in the Valley so far this season,” Manandhar remarked, adding that there’s a possibility of further temperature decrease.
Manandhar predicts the maximum temperature in Kathmandu Valley to range between 16 and 18 degrees today.
The Valley has been witnessing a consistent decline in temperatures over the past few days.
Thursday recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius, with a maximum temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
In meteorological terms, the lowest temperature within a 24-hour period is termed the minimum temperature, measured by 8:45 am, while the highest temperature is termed the maximum temperature, measured by 5:45 pm.
Meteorologist Manandhar forecasts the weather in Kathmandu Valley to be partly cloudy to generally clear today, indicating that although there might be a few clouds, the sun is expected to shine.
