Nepal and China sign ‘BRI Cooperation Framework’ agreement

Nepal and China have signed a framework agreement for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.

The agreement was formalized during a special ceremony held in Beijing, China, on Wednesday, between the Government of Nepal and the Government of China.

The BRI agreement had attracted significant attention during Prime Minister KP Oli’s official visit to China.

RSP protesters clash with police in Chitwan

A clash broke out in Chitwan between Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) cadres and the police as RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane was being escorted for questioning in the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative embezzlement case.

According to SP Gautam KC of the District Police Office, Chitwan, the police were forced to take action after RSP cadres pelted stones at the police office.

Some officers were injured in the attack, and the glass of a kitchen window at the police station was broken.

Minister Khadka sets up office at NEA amid tensions with Kulman Ghising

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has set up his office at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the first time.

Although the Energy Minister is the NEA chairman, this marks his initial move to work directly from the Authority’s premises.

The minister’s decision to set up his office and stay there comes as NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising is away at the Upper Tamakoshi reconstruction site.

NPL: Kathmandu wins Karnali by 3 wickets

The Karnali Yaks suffered their second defeat in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) as they were beaten by 3 wickets by Kathmandu Gurkhas at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Batting first, Karnali posted a total of 149/5 in their 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with a brilliant knock of 72 runs off 52 balls.

His performance, however, was overshadowed by Karan KC’s explosive batting later in the match.
