Binu arrested in Cambodia following Interpol red notice



KAHTMANDU: A woman, Binu Shakya, who has been issued a red notice by Interpol for various cases including foreign employment fraud, has been arrested in Cambodia.

Binu, a resident of Mankha in Sindhupalchowk, was apprehended in coordination with Cambodia’s National Central Bureau (NCB) in Phnom Penh, according to the Nepal Police Headquarters. She was brought back to Nepal on Sunday.

She is accused of defrauding over 40 individuals, totaling approximately Rs. 50 million.

In this case, Sujan Acharya, who resides in Udaypur Triyuga Municipality-10, has already been deported from Cambodia.

A red notice was issued following a request from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nepal Police Headquarters to search for and arrest both individuals internationally.

Correspondence was subsequently sent to all Interpol member states.
