Chilime-Trishuli transmission line completed; pathway for electricity exports to China
The Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line has been completed, allowing electricity generated by current and future hydropower projects on the Trishuli River and its tributaries to be integrated into the national grid and exported to China.
This 28 km transmission line runs from the Chilime Hub Substation in Thambuchet, Amachodingmo Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, to the Trishuli 3B Hub Substation in Pahrebensi, Kispang Rural Municipality of Nuwakot.
Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), noted that the transmission line was built during the public holidays of Dashain and Tihar, thanks to the dedication of employees and construction professionals.
Two dead, 18 hurt in Arghakhanchi bus accident
Two people died and 18 others were injured in a bus accident that occurred Monday at Jayathati of Bhumikasthan municipality in Arghakhanchi.
The accident happened when a bus (Na 3 Kha 2471) hit a group participating in design bhailo, a traditional singing and dancing event for the Tihar festival late this evening.
Flights affected due to low visibility
Air travel was disrupted on Monday due to adverse weather conditions, particularly low visibility affecting flights from Kathmandu to various remote areas.
Jagannath Niraula, General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), stated that flights to Lukla were grounded due to heavy rain.
Only instrument flight rules (IFR) flights were conducted at TIA, as visual flight rules (VFR) flights cannot operate under these conditions.
The airport office reported that many tourists, having walked to their destinations, are stranded due to the flight disruptions.
Rukum Paschim quake survivors still living in tin sheds a year since disaster
It has been one full year since Harka Pun of Aathbiskot Municipality-14 of Rukum Paschim was rendered homeless since a devastating earthquake struck the district.
An earthquake of local Magnitude (ML) 6.4 occurred around Ramidanda of Jajarkot district at 23:47hrs (local time) on 3 November 2023, killing more than 150 people and injuring almost 400 people.
It caused extensive damage to buildings, infrastructure and critical services mostly in Jajarkot, Rukum Paschim, Rukum Purba and Salyan districts.
20 gamblers arrested with Rs 669,810 in Bauddha
Police arrested 20 individuals on Monday while they were gambling at the residence of Ram Bahadur Sunar in Ramhiti, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Bauddha.
Police recovered Rs 669,810 from the suspects, along with three used decks of cards and six unopened decks.
Former queen mother Ratna admitted to hospital
Former queen mother Rajyalaxmi Shah has been admitted to the hospital.
The 97-year-old Shah was taken to Norvic Hospital in Thapathali on Sunday evening due to health issues.
Doctors report that she is suffering from a chest infection; however, there are no serious complications.
Ratna is the widow of former King Mahendra Shah. Even after King Gyanendra’s departure from Narayanhiti Palace, Ratna continues to reside in Mahendra Manjil at Narayanhiti.
Thai Air Asia resumes flight at TIA
The Thai Air Asia has again started operating flights at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
It had launched commercial flight from Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) from Sunday.
The Thai Air Asia is the fourth aviation service company operating commercial flight at GBIA, the second international airport of the country.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had taken action against Thai Air Asia after its plane arrived in Kathmandu on October 27 without taking a flight permit.
