Deuba affirms unity with UML on democratic and republican values

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that there is no significant difference between his party and the CPN-UML regarding the multi-party democratic system and the republican system.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Deuba expressed confidence in the mutual support between Nepali Congress and UML for safeguarding democracy and the republic.

“There is no difference between Congress and UML when it comes to the multi-party democratic system and the republican system,” said Deuba.

Prachanda calls for unity against push towards two-party rule

Chairman of the Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, has voiced concerns that the country is being steered towards a two-party rule.

He emphasized the need for the public to be made aware and to resist this shift.

Speaking at a program today, Prachanda stated that there are signs of a move towards a two-party system, which he believes could lead to authoritarianism.

PM Oli insists on collective efforts to promote universal suffrage

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that it is the responsibility of each State to respect the voting rights of the citizens.

Inaugurating the 12th Conference of the Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBOSA) today, the Prime Minister said the election is the means of demonstrating people’s aspirations and mandate.

“In South Asia, we share many common challenges. From ensuring voting rights and addressing diaspora issues to fostering fair competition and coexistence among political parties, our experiences often run parallel,” he said.

Chitwan reports another dengue fatality

A 41-year-old man from Chanauli, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-20, has died from dengue fever, marking another fatality in the district. The man, who had been receiving treatment at Bharatpur Hospital, passed away on Tuesday.

He initially sought medical care on Friday due to a fever and was admitted with ventilator support.

NEPSE falls 90.73 points, ending at 2,739.46 with total volume of Rs. 12.92 billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index dropped significantly by 90.73 points, or 3.20%, closing at 2,739.46 points.

This decline follows a modest increase of 6.90 points from the previous trading session, when the index had ended at 2,830.16 points.

During today’s session, the index opened at 2,860.07 points and exhibited notable volatility throughout the day.

Minister Khadka reaffirms commitment to ADB-supported projects

Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the prompt completion of projects supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Nepal.

He assured that any issues arising during the implementation of these projects would be addressed swiftly.

In a meeting with Arnaud Cauchois, ADB’s Country Director for Nepal, held today at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation in Singha Durbar, Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for ADB’s support in developing Nepal’s energy sector.

He also expressed optimism about continued ADB assistance in the future.
