Home Minister Lekhak urges confidence in implementation of NC-UML agreement

KANCHANPUR: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has urged the public not to harbor doubts regarding the implementation of the agreement between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

He emphasized that the issue of constitutional amendment should not be politically misinterpreted or used as a means to create unnecessary controversy.

Addressing a program in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, Home Minister Lekhak assured that the constitution will be amended to further strengthen the federal democratic republic and its inclusive nature.

“I request that the issue of constitutional amendment not be subjected to political doubt or misinterpretation,” said the Home Minister, who is also a leader of the Nepali Congress.

“The constitution will be amended in accordance with the provisions that address its strengths and weaknesses based on practical experience.”

Minister Lekhak also highlighted the historical successes achieved when the two major political parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, came together.

He pointed out that their collaboration led to the end of the Panchayat regime, the resolution of the armed conflict, the inclusion of Maoists in the peace process, and the creation of the Constitution.

He assured that both parties remain committed to fulfilling their specific roles under the seven-point agreement.

The Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress has endorsed this agreement and is determined to implement it.

“I urge everyone to have confidence in the implementation of the agreement between Congress and UML,” he stated.

“The Nepali Congress is fully committed to this agreement, and the UML shares this commitment, as there is no alternative to this consensus.”
