EU provides Rs 12 million grant for plastic waste management

KATHMANDU: The European Union (EU) has provided a Rs 12 million grant to Creation Nepal to implement a project aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in plastic waste management.

Creation Nepal will launch a green shift project to promote entrepreneurship in three provinces with the received grant.

Project Chief Unish Ghimire informed that the funds would be utilized for private enterprises managing plastic waste. Six enterprises—two each in Bagmati, Madhesh, and Lumbini Provinces—will receive grants based on their performance, with each selected enterprise receiving Rs 2 million.

Ghimire added, “The grant will help build the capacity of the concerned enterprises, along with developing physical infrastructure and purchasing machinery.”

Similarly, Anand Mishra, founder chair of Creation Nepal, noted that this is possibly the first significant grant received at the private level for innovation.
