PM Dahal, Oli, and Lamichhane agree on finalizing TRC Bill

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Law Committee has been called for today morning to deliberate on the Transitional Justice Bill (TRC).

The decision to call the meeting was made following consultations with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, and Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane last evening.

Notably, Oli and Lamichhane have demonstrated flexibility regarding the TRC Bill.

Initially, the UML had expressed reservations, insisting that the TRC should prioritize the interests of victims.

However, recent developments reveal a positive shift in the stance of the UML towards the bill.

The TRC Bill is currently under consideration in the Parliament’s Law Committee.

The committee met on Sunday to discuss the Bill, during which Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dhanraj Gurung sought additional time to finalize the bill.

Minister Gurung acknowledged that while there is consensus on many aspects of the bill, certain elements require further clarification.
