President Xi Jinping announces 9 billion rupees grant to Nepal



KATHMANDU: Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced a grant of 500 million RMB (approximately 9 billion rupees) to Nepal.

The announcement was made during a meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Xi in Beijing, as per the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Prime Minister Oli, currently on a four-day official visit to China, held discussions with President Xi today, during which the grant was confirmed.

The visit follows an invitation from Chinese Premier Li Qiang, with Oli departing for China on Monday.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Oli met Premier Li and exchanged views on various bilateral interests. Following this, nine agreements were signed before Oli’s meeting with President Xi.

Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return to Nepal on December 5.
