Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities: Deuba bats for meaningful participation

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has viewed the persons living with disability deserve meaningful participation and leadership in the decision making levels.

The former prime minister said it while giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 33rd International Day of Persons living with Disability today.

NC is always committed to equity, justice and inclusive democracy, he reminded, adding that meaningful participation of disabled person in policy level was the need of hour.

He extended best wishes to all disabled persons, their families and those involved in the movement on this occasion.

May the Day being observed under the theme of ‘Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future,’ inspired all to work for inclusive society where disabled persons’ rights are respected and protected, he said in the message of best wishes.

The former prime minister urged all sides concerned to ensure disabled persons’ easy access to education, health and employment in order to address their rights.

The legal, social and structural reforms are imperative for it. The role of disabled persons is significant for sustainable and equitable development, Deuba reminded.
