NC’s Dangol elected Kirtipur mayor



KATHMANDU: Krishnaman Dangol of Nepali Congress has been elected the Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality.

The Election Commission has stated that Dangol won by securing 5,334 votes in the by-election held on Sunday.

Dangol’s closest competitor, Shiva Sharan Maharjan of CPN (Maoist Center), secured 4,555 votes.

Similarly, Dr Surendra Manandhar of the CPN (UML) won 4,337 votes. The by-election was held after Rajkumar Nakarmi, who was elected from the Nepali Congress in the 2079 BS elections, passed away due to illness.

Among those in the fray, independent candidates Rajman Maharjan received 2,036 votes, Kabi Kumar Maharjan won 1,314 votes, Dinesh Kumar Adhikari got 1,048 votes, and Dhruv Maharjan of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 995 votes, according to the Commission.
