KATHMANDU: The Khurkot-Ghurmi road section along the Madhyapahadi Lokmarga (Mid-hill Highway) has been opened for one-way traffic from today.
The traffic was stopped for five days after hundreds of places of the highway were blocked due to the floods and landslides that occurred a few days ago.
Jwala Prasad Neupane, vice chair of Sindhuli Golanjor Rural Municipality, informed that the road has come into operation since this afternoon after clearing the debris by using dozers and excavators from both sides of the highway.
According to him, two excavators from Ghurmi and two excavators from Khurket were used for the one-way operation of the road with the help and coordination of Madhyapahadi road project and the local authorities.
Though the highway is operational, the risk of dry landslides will remain, and traveling at night could be dangerous.
Therefore, local authorities have requested to be on high alert while travelling in night. The Khurkot-Ghurmi road section is 61 km long.
