Bhanu Cup Football Tournament kicks off today

The 17th Bhanu Cup football tournament starts today in Tanahun. Organized by the Bhansar Youth Club, the tournament is being held at the playground in Bhansar, Bhanu Municipality-1. The Bhansar Youth Club has been organizing the football tournament annually to promote Chundiramgha, the birthplace of Bhanubhakta Acharya. According to Bishnu Adhikari, the club’s sports coordinator, the opening match will feature the current champions, Seven Star Youth Club of Tanahu, against Young Boys FC Chitwan. A total of 24 teams are participating in the competition, which will conclude with the final match on August 10.

Two missing after being swept away by floods

Two people are missing after an auto-rickshaw (Ra. 6 Ha 4055), traveling from Tulsipur to Khadrai, was swept away by the Bechani River in Tulsipur Municipality-4. Police Inspector Prakash Thapa of the Area Police Office in Tulsipur reported that the missing individuals are 55-year-old local resident Sita Ale and 16-year-old Manju Khadka from Surkhet. The police have initiated a search operation for the missing persons.

Grade 12 re-exams scheduled for September 10 and 11

The grade increment examination for Grade 12 is scheduled for September 10 and 11. The National Examination Board has urged students to fill out forms to participate in the re-examinations. According to the results published on Friday, 47.09% of students received a non-grade or failed the examinations, while 52.91% passed. A total of 390,868 students, including 193,933 boys and 196,914 girls, sat for the exams that commenced on April 14. Of them, 203,847 students passed. The number of non-graded students is 187,021 (47.09%).

International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Pokhara

An international hot air balloon festival will be held in Pokhara from December 29 to January 2, marking New Year 2025. Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd is organizing the event to promote Pokhara internationally, particularly around the Phewa Lake area. Bikram Bade, Chairperson of Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd, announced that 20 to 25 balloons from various countries will participate in the festival, which is estimated to cost Rs 6.5 million. The event is supported and collaborated with the Nepal Tourism Board, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Gandaki Province Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, and the Pokhara Tourism Council.

Two new Cholera cases detected in Lalitpur, total reaches 25

Two more individuals have been diagnosed with cholera in Lalitpur in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of cholera cases to 25 across the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). In Kathmandu Valley, the disease has been detected in one person in Tokha, Kathmandu, and in 16 people residing in Godawari, Gwarko, Imadol, and other areas of Lalitpur. Additionally, eight cases have been identified in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City.

Pariyar missing in Dharche landslide found dead

A person who went missing in a landslide at Dharche Rural Municipality-5 in northern Gorkha has been found dead after a week. The body of Ramesh Pariyar, 24, from Arughat Rural Municipality-6, was discovered today, according to Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer of the District Police Office. The tractor driver had been missing since the landslide occurred on July 28. His body was found two kilometers away from the incident site.

Karnali CM Kandel to take vote of confidence on Monday

Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Yamlal Kandel, is scheduled to take a vote of confidence on Monday. Chief Minister Kandel has submitted a letter requesting arrangements for the vote, according to the Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly. CM Kandel will be taking the vote of confidence as per Article 118 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. This will be the second time CM Kandel takes a vote of confidence during his tenure.

Nepal records historic win against India in CAVA Women’s Volleyball Tournament

Nepal has registered a historic win against India in the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Nepal defeated India 3-2 in a volleyball match played at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Saturday. This is the first time Nepal has beaten India, considered volleyball giants in Asia. In another victory, the Nepal Women’s team was crowned CAVA Beach Volleyball Champion in Thimphu, Bhutan, after defeating Uzbekistan with scores of 21-17 and 21-14.

150 people die in monsoon disasters across Nepal

Weather-related disasters, including floods and landslides, have claimed the lives of 150 people across Nepal this monsoon season. According to the Central Police News Room, fatalities include three people in Kathmandu Valley, 25 in Koshi Province, six in Madhesh, 29 in Bagmati, 42 in Gandaki, 27 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali, and 10 in the Far West. The police report also indicates that 49 people are missing, 177 people have been injured, and 180 people have been rescued due to these disasters.

Closed camp suggests RSP hold national gathering on Sep 19-20 and general convention next April

The Closed Camp of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held on Friday and Saturday has provided 15 suggestions to the party. The camp recommended that the party hold a national gathering on September 19 and 20 and the first general convention in the last week of April next year. The camp was attended by office bearers, central committee members, and members of the central commission.
