AIG Joshi retires, makes room for Pokharel’s two-day tenure

KATHMANDU: Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Umesh Raj Joshi has retired.

Joshi entered mandatory retirement at midnight on Tuesday.

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tek Prasad Rai bid farewell to Joshi in a formal ceremony.

Joshi began his police career on March 19, 1995, when he was appointed as a Police Inspector.

He retired at the age of 56 in accordance with the Police Regulations 2014.

DIG Poshraj Pokharel has already been recommended for promotion to replace Joshi.

With Joshi’s retirement, the path for Pokharel’s promotion to AIG has cleared.

However, even after being promoted, Pokharel will also retire on July 5, giving him only two days in the role of AIG.
