KATHMANDU: The Central Executive Committee of Nepali Congress (NC) has endorsed the agreement between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, aiming to reshape the current power dynamics and establish a new political equation.

NC spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the approval came during a meeting held at the residence of President Deuba on Wednesday morning.

“The meeting, chaired by President Deuba, ratified the accord reached between our party leader and CPN-UML Chairman Oli,” Mahat stated.

Mahat further disclosed that the meeting also called upon Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to resign, clearing the path for the implementation of the agreement.

“The Prime Minister has been urged to facilitate the transition,” he added.

Leaders familiar with the agreement, struck late Monday night between Deuba and Oli, outlined key provisions including a change in leadership from Dahal’s government to a new administration and amendments to existing policies.

As per the terms, CPN UML Chairman Oli will initially assume leadership, followed by President Deuba, culminating in the upcoming elections.
