Parliamentary party overrules chairman’s whip: Instructs lawmakers to back CM Shah in Sudurpaschim Province vote

KATHMANDU: Amidst the political turmoil, the parliamentary party of Nagarik Unmukti Party has issued a directive to its lawmakers to vote in favor of Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah in the upcoming vote of confidence in Sudurpaschim Province.

Scheduled for Thursday, the vote of confidence has sparked internal conflict within the party, as Chairman Ranjita Shrestha had initially issued a whip instructing lawmakers to oppose the Chief Minister.

In response, Chief Whip Khushi Ram Dangaura of the province’s parliamentary party has mandated all lawmakers to be present and cast their votes in support of CM Shah.

With seven lawmakers from Nagarik Unmukti Party in the Provincial Assembly, including five serving as ministers, the decision holds significant weight amidst the diverse political landscape comprising 52 members.
