Suspect arrested in connection with Gopal Dhakal’s murder

KATHMANDU: Police have apprehended and publicly disclosed the arrest of Santosh Suwal in connection with the murder of Gopal Dhakal in Bhaktapur, which occurred 10 days ago.

The arrested individual has been identified as Santosh Suwal, aged 29, a resident of Changunarayan Municipality-6.

Gopal Dhakal, aged 33, originally from Chattar Rural Municipality-2 of Terhathum district, was found deceased in Suryabinayak Municipality-8.

Rabindra Regmi, spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, confirmed that Santosh Suwal was arrested on charges of Dhakal’s murder.

Suwal had been evading authorities for the past 10 days and was apprehended from Mandan Deupur Municipality-6, Kavre on Saturday.

Prior to his demise, Dhakal had gone missing, and his wife, Renu Dhakal, received a ransom call demanding Rs 200,000 for his release from a jungle in Surya Binayak.

Renu promptly informed the police about the call.

The following day, Dhakal’s lifeless body was discovered in Surya Binayak Municipality-8.
