KATHMANDU: The Judicial Commission (JC) has chosen to elevate Devendra Raj Dhakal to the position of Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court (SC).
Currently serving as the Secretary of the Judicial Council, Dhakal’s promotion follows the vacancy left by Lal Bahadur Kunwar, the previous Chief Registrar who assumed the role of a High Court judge.
The term for the Chief Registrar is set at three years, marking a tenure in the highest echelons of the judiciary.
Meanwhile, Bimal Paudel, the current Associate Registrar of the Supreme Court, is poised to step into the role of Registrar, as recommended by the Commission.
These promotions fall under the purview of the Cabinet, responsible for decisions regarding such specialized posts.
In tandem with these changes, Bhadrakali Pokharel, formerly the District Registrar and Spokesperson of the Supreme Court, has been reassigned to the Judicial Council Secretariat.
Likewise, Bedh Prasad Upreti will assume the responsibilities of the Joint Registrar of the Supreme Court.
