KATHMANDU: Nar Bahadur Jhakri of CPN (Maoist Centre) has been elected chairperson of Tripurasundari municipality-5 in Dolpa district.
Jhakri was elected to the post with 161 votes in the by-election held on Sunday. His nearest rival, Nar Bahadur Roka of the CPN (UML) got 116 votes, according to the District Election Office.
The post of ward chairperson had fallen vacant after Nanda Lal Roka elected as chairperson from the CPN (UML) in local-level election held in 2079 BS, died due to illness.
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Narpura Buda elected vice-chairperson of Putha Uttarganga
CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Narpura Buda has emerged victorious in by-election for the post of vice-chairperson of Putha Uttarganga rural municipality.
In the by-election held on Sunday, Buda defeated Kesh Kumari Tulachan, representing CPN (UML) and NC’s coalition, to become Vice-Chairperson. Buda secured 3,627 votes against his rival Tulachan who got 2,128 votes.
He won the by-election with the margin of 1,499 votes.
It may be noted that Jagat Gharti of CPN (Maoist Centre) was already unanimously elected ward chairperson of ward no 2 in the same rural municipality.
By-election was held on December 1 to fill 41 vacant posts in various local levels across the country.
