KATHMANDU: The death toll from floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains has reached 148 people across various parts of the country, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.
Since the monsoon began on June 10, the casualties have been reported as follows:
Kathmandu Valley: 3 deaths
Koshi Province: 25 deaths
Madhes Province: 6 deaths
Bagmati Province: 29 deaths
Gandaki Province: 42 deaths
Lumbini Province: 25 deaths
Karnali Province: 8 deaths
Sudurpaschim Province: 10 deaths
In addition to the fatalities, the monsoon rains have injured several people:
Kathmandu Valley: 10 injured
Koshi Province: 37 injured
Madhes Province: 10 injured
Bagmati Province: 10 injured
Gandaki Province: 34 injured
Lumbini Province: 10 injured
Karnali Province: 51 injured
Sudurpaschim Province: 14 injured
Rescue operations have been conducted, resulting in:
Kathmandu Valley: 26 people rescued
Koshi Province: 49 people rescued
Bagmati Province: 12 people rescued
Gandaki Province: 14 people rescued
Karnali Province: 2 people rescued
Sudurpaschim Province: 5 people rescued
Several people remain missing:
Koshi Province: 2 missing
Bagmati Province: 42 missing
Gandaki Province: 2 missing
Karnali Province: 1 missing
The disaster has also caused extensive property damage, including:
Submerged Houses: 383
Damaged Houses: 255
Damaged Sheds: 91
Damaged Bridges: 43
Damaged Schools: 2
Damaged Government Offices: 2
Additionally, 715 cattle have perished, and 4,112 households have been displaced due to the disaster, as reported by Spokesperson DIG Karki.
