UML ministers resigning from posts

KATHMANDU: The Ministers of CPN-UML are set to resign from their posts today.

Following an agreement with the Nepali Congress, Chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, is poised to become the new Prime Minister.

A UML leader told Khabarhub, “We will submit our resignation by 1 PM today.”

According to Mahesh Bartaula, UML’s chief whip, a new government will be formed by this evening if Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal resigns.

If not, the formation of the new government will likely occur tomorrow.

The agreement, reached between Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman KP Oli, outlines the allocation of ministries, provincial leadership roles, and the rotation of government leadership.

Under this agreement, Chairman Oli will lead the government for the first half of the year.

A key architect of the agreement, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the decision was reached through national consensus.

During Oli’s tenure, UML will control nine ministries, including the crucial portfolios of Prime Minister and Finance Minister, while the Congress will oversee ten ministries, including the Home Ministry.
