KATHMANDU: In a thrilling Super Six stage match of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Friday, India has set a formidable target of 298 runs for Nepal.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, India posted a total of 297 runs in their allotted 50 overs, losing five wickets in the process.
Despite facing an early setback, with the team losing two wickets in quick succession, India managed to regain control, thanks to a resilient partnership between skipper Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas.
Their impressive 215-run stand not only stabilized the innings but also propelled India to a commanding total. Remarkably, this partnership stands as the highest for India at the U19 Cricket World Cup.
Both batsmen showcased exceptional performances, achieving centuries in the process.
Sachin Dhas was the top scorer with a brilliant 116 runs, while Uday Saharan contributed a valuable 100 runs to the team’s total, finishing at 297/5.
With this imposing target, India now stands on the verge of securing a spot in the semi-finals and aims to conclude the Super Six stage with a resounding victory.
On the bowling front, Gulshan Jha stood out with an impressive three-wicket haul, supported by Aakash Chand, who claimed one wicket for Nepal.
The Nepalese team faces a challenging task in chasing down the formidable target set by India.
