KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to leave for a four-day official visit to China on Monday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

He will be accompanied by a 46-member government delegation, which includes ministers, high-ranking government officials, and representatives from the private sector, including industrialists and business leaders.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the government will bear the expenses for the delegation.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has already returned from China after making preparations for the visit.

According to Oli’s secretariat, he will depart for Beijing at 11 a.m. on a chartered Himalayan Airlines flight.

The total delegation, including private sector participants, is expected to comprise 87 members, with 48 representatives from the private sector joining the visit.

During his stay, Oli is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on December 4.

The discussions are expected to include topics related to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Although implementation of BRI projects has faced delays, recent agreements with coalition partner Nepali Congress may pave the way for progress.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties with China, explore economic opportunities, and further discussions on key areas of cooperation.
