Five killed in Rolpa suspension bridge wall collapse



ROLPA: Five people were killed when a pile of mud fell on workers constructing a suspension bridge wall in Rolpa this morning.

Dujaman Pariyar, Om Pariyar, Subitra Pariyar, Deviram Pariyar and Aiti Pariyar, all residents of Sunchhahari Rural Municipality Ward No. 3, were buried under the mudslide, according to the District Police Office, Rolpa.

Five workers were trapped when the mud collapsed during the construction. Two others managed to escape unhurt.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a rescue team was immediately dispatched.

A team of seven officers led by Police Inspector Arun Tamang from the Area Police Office, Sulichaur, and five officers under Police Assistant Inspector Prakash Bista from the Police Post, Gam, were deployed to the site.

The police confirmed that five bodies have been recovered.
