Vice Chair and four others from Everest Cooperatives arrested for embezzlement

KATHMANDU: Five individuals, including Vice Chairperson Babita Dangol of Everest Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited, have been arrested on charges of embezzling Rs 159.1 million of depositors’ money, according to the Central Crime Investigation Bureau.

The cooperative’s office is located in Chuchepati, Kathmandu.

The other individuals arrested include Secretary Kancha Bhai Dangol, Treasurer Bishnu Prasad Phuyal, and members Ram Lal Maharjan and Amar Bhai Maharjan.

The Kathmandu District Court has granted the Bureau permission to remand the suspects in custody for eight days.
