Proposed ambassador to China pledges to implement agreements and boost investment

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has commenced the hearing process for the proposed ambassadors to various countries.

Today, the committee is reviewing four of the 17 candidates nominated for ambassadorial positions.

The session began with the interrogation of Prof. Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, proposed ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and Sumnima Tuladhar, proposed ambassador to Denmark.

During the hearing, the candidates presented their work plans.

Dr. Oli pledged to implement previously agreed-upon treaties with China and to increase investment flows into Nepal.

He also committed to opening more border points and improving the management of those currently operational.

Similarly, Sumnima Tuladhar, the proposed ambassador to Denmark, vowed to facilitate a high-level foreign visit from Denmark to Nepal and to address climate change issues through diplomatic initiatives.

Meanwhile, the committee has received nine complaints regarding these nominations, with six complainants allowed to present their views during the meeting.
