Nagarik Unmukti removes Ranjita as PP leader

KATHMANDU: Majority of the members of the Nagarik Unmukti Party in the House of Representatives have ousted Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary from her position as the Parliamentary Party (PP) leader.

Gangaram Chaudhary, formerly the party’s chief whip, was elected as her replacement, following the decision to remove Shrestha, who also serves as the party Chairperson.

Among the four MPs representing the party in the House of Representatives, Ganga Chaudhary, Arun Chaudhary, and Lalbir Chaudhary (father of Resham Chaudhary) supported the decision to remove Shrestha as Parliamentary Party leader.

Following Gangaram Chaudhary’s election as party leader, Lalbir Chaudhary assumed the role of Chief Whip.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” is set to expand the cabinet tomorrow, with plans to appoint Ranjita Chaudhary as a minister.

However, the majority MPs of the party have moved swiftly to remove her from the party leadership.
