KATHMANDU: Over the past few days, temperatures across most parts of the country have been steadily rising.
On Friday, temperatures soared to over 40 degrees Celsius in several locations of the Terai region.
Today, Nepalgunj recorded 43 degrees, Dhangadhi 42.5 degrees, Dipayal 41.2 degrees, Surkhet 40.4 degrees, Ghorahi 38.6 degrees, and Bhairahawa 36.8 degrees Celsius.
The continuous rise in temperature is attributed to the increasing intensity of the heatwave in the Terai region, as forecasted by the Meteorological Department.
According to forecasts, the wave of hot winds, which has been persisting in the western Terai for the past one and a half days, is expected to continue until Sunday.
The high temperatures and hot winds have significantly impacted life in the Terai.
In some areas like Banke, Rupandehi, Dang, Kailali, schools have been closed due to the extreme weather conditions.
